Stok Kangri Trek

Getting bored by the monotonous routine of the plains, I decided to take a break and say goodbye to the even terrain for few days. I had many friends who enjoyed trekking and had heard a lot by them about the trekking experiences. So I thought of taking a venture in it. I googled, compared and concluded that I would trek this season to Stok Kangri.

I wanted to make this calendar time special and hoped dearly that I would not feel messed up with my plans. Having prepared well and registered in a trekking camp, I reached at Leh a day before. As Stok Kangri is situated at a high altitude my body was in need to acclimatize. So, after a day’s rest my trekking team started from Shang and then trekked to Shang Phu amidst the meadows. It felt thrilling. Further, visit to the monasteries at Shey, Thikse and Hemis and a lovely trek through the Markha Valley was awesomely wonderful. It was picturesque and the remote rural surroundings proved to be an add-on. After all this while I ultimately got my treat- Stok Kangri. The far reaching view towards Tibet and Karakoram was nurturing. I managed to keep my senses around myself. The beauty was just too much to take. The scene was like an festive season. I had surely not messed up with my plans. The weather is like a chameleon. The calmness of snow was quickly taken over by the thundering sounds. Surely the weather is harsh but the reward that this trek offers is worth taking such a pain.

I was enjoying the wholesome typography of Ladakh- barren surface, criss-cross ridges, deep canyons, water curves and many more carve outs.

I had prepared myself physically to enjoy to the fullest and that helped me a lot. Camping under the open sky with an unfaithful weather just living the next door was pretty daring. My trekking team was quite amicable and it felt good to know somewhere back in the mind that if, by chance, some problem occurs, there was a few to stretch their hand out and say it is all right. That was the beauty of my trek. After all it is good to be social. The weather up there was also social as it showed all its colours to us and gave us every chance to enjoy every hue of Stok Kangri.

I have got few clicks and made many friends and utilized every other moment to learn, yearn and grow. Now being back to the plains and the same routine, it does not seem to be much fun. Up there, I had already built my dream home in that prevailed serenity. But I am back to the reality and have to put my hens in a row. Life is beautiful and so is nature. I am a part of nature and I am obliged to word some trivial praise in the honour of Stok Kangri.
