Goechala Trek

Starting point: Yuksom

Let us take a look at the journey to the majestic Goechala Pass in the beautiful state of Sikkim. Your journey begins as you travel from New Jalpaiguri to Yuksom, the charming gateway to the trek. Yuksom holds a significant place in the history and culture of the state of Sikkim. The town was once the capital of the kingdom of Sikkim. In 1642, the first Chogyal (monarch) of Sikkim was anointed by three revered lamas, marking the establishment of Sikkim as a kingdom. From Yuksom, the trail winds through dense forests, revealing glimpses of the stunning landscapes that await. We set up camp in Sachen, surrounded by nature's tranquillity. Continue your ascent to Tshoka, passing through the picturesque hamlet of Bakhim. The trail offers panoramic views of the Himalayas and takes you deeper into the heart of the mountains. Post Tshoka, the next stop is at Dzongri, a high-altitude paradise offering spectacular views of Kanchenjunga and its neighbouring peaks. Along the way, pass through Phedang, a scenic meadow that adds to the charm of the journey.

As you leave Dzongri, the trail leads you to Thangshing, passing through the enchanting Kokcharang meadows. Immerse yourself in the serenity of the landscape and set up camp in Thangshing. Thangshing is one of the most beautiful campsites. Hike to Lamuney, a beautiful campsite nestled at the foot of Pandim Peak. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers, making it a photographer's delight. The highlight of your trek awaits as you ascend to Goechala, a vantage point offering panoramic views of the Himalayan giants. Visit the pristine Samiti Lake before retracing your steps to Lamuney for the night.

Making your way back to Tshoka via Phedang. Reflect on the incredible journey you've undertaken and enjoy the changing landscapes. Finally, bid farewell to the high-altitude landscapes as you descend back to Yuksom. Pass through familiar trails, reliving the memories of your ascent.
